SCLT is excited to announce that we are currently looking for a Director of Development, Outreach and Education.  This position is offered at Part-Time with the intent on transitioning to Full-Time within 12 months.

Salary/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience.  Generous Paid Time Off, Holidays, and Flexible Hours.

Summary

This position will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating major fundraising activities, special events, community relations, maintaining the public perception and overall brand of SCLT and other duties as assigned.  This position will work closely with SCLT’s Board of Directors, Fundraising Committee, and Outreach/Marketing Work Group.  The position will report to the Executive Director. 

Major duties will include:

1. Fundraising for Annual Operations

Establishes short and long-range fundraising goals for unrestricted and restricted funding sources.  Strategize and lead donor engagement efforts, leveraging key relationships and contacts within the community and region to grow SCLT’s individual donor base.  Researches public and private grant sources for operations-related funding, and complete grant proposals inline with SCLT’s mission and fundraising strategy.  Works with E.D. to develop project-specific fundraising strategies.  Organizes short and long term donor campaigns, lead drives for generating ongoing support from individuals, businesses, and foundations. 

2.  Major Gift/Donor Support 

Creates and produces major donor, board and project-specific fundraising materials to retain or upgrade gift amounts and consistency.  Cultivates and nurtures major donors, through consistent personal and organizational communication, specialized correspondence, and face-to-face visits.  Develops, leads and encourages Board of Director’s fundraising strategy, capacity, and enthusiasm.

3. Managing Fundraising Records

Oversees and coordinates the maintenance of SCLT’s Etapestry and paper records of donors and grant sources.  Maintains security and quality controls.  Generate monthly queries, reports, exports as deemed necessary or requested by E.D., Board of Directors, and Fundraising Committee.  Empowers and directs daily fundraising strategies through the careful study and understanding of SCLT prospects and their history capturing this information with SCLT’s Etapestry database.

4. Administering a Planned Giving Program

Works with E.D. and Fundraising Committee to frame, establish, and market SCLT’s planned-giving program.   Tracks progress of Legacy and Bequest gifts.  Fulfills requests, produce outreach/reference materials and encourages partial/early disbursement where appropriate.

5. Outreach and Marketing

Works with E.D. to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and public relations strategy.   Creates and produces various communications such as the annual report, general boilerplate, general PowerPoint presentations, government relations, executive correspondences and speeches. Produces and manages general content for fundraising on website and social media.

6. Financial Reporting

Works with SCLT’s E.D. and volunteer office coordinator to maintain accurate accounting of all income and its sources.

7. Education and Training

Maintains a thorough understanding of SCLT’s mission, vision, and strategic plan with  comprehensive knowledge on the tools SCLT uses to accomplish its mission.  Dedicates on-going attention and time to personal professional development and education through Land Trust Alliance and other similar organization networks.

Minimum Qualifications:

-B.S. and/or B.A. degree.

- 2 years of direct fundraising/development, event planning, and/or community outreach for business or non-profit entities.

-Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.

-Knowledge and experience with a variety of software programs.
