SUMMARY:SCLT Explore History Saturday: Sheridan Railroad Historic District Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join SCLT History Program Manager Kevin Knapp for the very first guided walking tour of the Sheridan Railroad Historic District. This inaugural tour will explore the people, industries, and landmarks that helped shape Sheridan into a vital rail hub of the American West.\nThe tour begins at Grinnell Plaza (55 Grinnell Plaza), just outside Sheridan City Hall, on June 20 at 1:00 p.m. From there, participants will walk approximately ¾ mile through the historic district—primarily on sidewalks and paved surfaces—uncovering stories of early railroad development, local entrepreneurs, and the enduring legacy of rail transportation in the community. The tour is expected to last between 45 minutes and an hour. There are places along the tour where you can sit and rest.\nThis program is free and open to the public, though sign up is preferred.\nParticipants are encouraged to dress for the weather, wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring water if they’d like.\nCome experience a new way to connect with Sheridan’s history, right where it happened.\nSCLT is deeply grateful to Mickey Douglas and Jean Harm for the many hours of volunteer research that helped bring this walking tour to life.\nWhere: Grinnell Plaza by Sheridan City Hall (55 Grinnell Plaza)When: Saturday, June 20Time: Tour begins at 1 p.m. and will conclude in about an hour.\nThis tour will also be offered on July 18 and August 15.\nSign up below to attend this SCLT Explore History program.\nSign up for this Explore History program here\n
