An old lantern, canning jar lid, children’s toys, and a newspaper from 1934. We come across pieces of the past in our daily lives as family heirlooms, an old tool we take for granted, or an accidental find in an old house. We often recognize these items as idle curiosities, but they can tell us about the past.
