Explore History: Scattered Pieces of History – Recognizing and Appreciating the Archaeology and History in Daily Life
An old lantern, canning jar lid, children’s toys, and a newspaper from 1934. We come across pieces of the past in our daily lives as family heirlooms, an old tool we take for granted, or an accidental find in an old house. We often recognize these items as idle curiosities, but they can tell us about the past. In this talk, Jason Weston will look at historic items he’s come across; talk about what they tell us, and how we all can draw meaning from the pieces of history in each of our lives.
