
SCLT Discovery Session: Bear Gulch Geology Hike
Discover the fascinating geologic history of the Bighorns along the trails accessible from Bear Gulch East Trailhead, part of the newest section of Red Grade Trails. Retired geologist Steve Stresky will tell a story over a billion years in the making as we enjoy a summer night on the mountain. You’ll be able to see deep into the Cloud Peak Wilderness and experience breathtaking views of the Bighorn anticline and valley below from Cliffhanger trail.
When: Thursday, August 21 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Where: Meet at Bear Gulch East Trailhead @ Red Grade Trails.
Meet at the Bear Gulch East Trailhead parking lot. If the parking lot is full, please carefully park along the side of the road. This hike will be about 1.75 to 2 miles long. It is easy to moderately difficult, with some stone steps on a short section of Cliffhanger Trail. Dress for the weather. Free to attend, open to all.
