We will let you know March 5 if spots become available.

You will learn how to safely and sustainably explore caves (called spelunking) from SCLT Recreation Program Manager Jared Koenig and volunteers from the Bighorn Mountains Grotto. This Discovery Session will feature a classroom workshop and field excursions where we will explore the Tongue River Cave.

Classroom Training – Wednesday, March 6, 6-7:30 pm @ SCLT Office located at 14 Lane Lane (the former NSI campus)

You will learn how to explore the cave safely and in a way that does not damage the cave, its mineral formations, or the wildlife that calls it home. You will also learn about equipment, clothing, and decontamination procedures. This program will also include a “qualifying course” with a simple climb and a tight crawl to help you and course organizers determine your skill level for our field excursion to the Tongue River Cave. You must attend classroom training to participate in our field excursions.

Field Excursion – Saturday, March 9 and Saturday, March 16 – Tongue River Cave.

We will enjoy a day exploring the Tongue River Cave. Sign-up will be done at our classroom training. You must attend classroom training to participate in our field excursions.

Participants under 18 must complete classroom training and be accompanied by a parent or guardian who has attended our classroom training.

This Discovery Session is free to attend.
