SCLT Discovery Session: Women’s Backcountry Skills & Trail Running
Expand Your Playground & Your Comfort Zone!
Ladies, have you wanted to enjoy our beautiful Bighorns backyard but haven’t because you aren’t sure if you have the skills or confidence to explore the backcountry? You don’t have to do it alone!
Join Jody Sanborn as she leads this two-part women’s backcountry skills/trail running Discovery Session.
Who can attend? All inclusive, all paces welcome: runners, joggers, walkers. All ability levels welcome, regardless of previous experience.
Objective: To empower, and offer a point of entry to anyone identifying as a woman who would like to increase their confidence and build skills to safely enjoy the backcountry while experiencing trail running. This Discovery Session will offer an opportunity for women in our community to connect with other women wanting to explore outdoor recreation/trail running. You will also learn tips for when you are in an area without cell phone service.
Gear: Comfortable shoes, water bottle or hydration pack, snacks, any other outdoor gear you have or want to bring.
Session 1 – Wednesday, April 30, 6-7:30 pm. Meet at Double Eagle Trailhead (Kendrick Municipal Golf Course).
We will have a casual discussion where Jody will share her experience to help women feel empowered to confidently enjoy the backcountry, then proceed to Double Eagle Trail for a short trail run/walk/jog.
Session 2 – Wednesday, May 21, 6-7:30 pm. Meet at Red Grade Trails Base Trailhead.
We will practice what we have learned in Session 1 and enjoy a beautiful spring evening on the mountain as we run/walk/jog on SCLT’s Red Grade Trails.
Attending both sessions is strongly encouraged.
Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
This Discovery Session is free to attend.
