Sheridan Community Land Trust Board and Staff

Our Staff & Board of Directors

Since its inception in 2005, SCLT has grown from an all volunteer organization to a (501)c(3) nonprofit with a variety of staff, a dedicated Board of Directors, and many volunteers. We are thrilled to be tasked with the conservation of Sheridan County’s iconic working ranches, healthy rivers and streams, open spaces, and historic sites, as well as create new recreation opportunities to connect current and future generations with the natural environment.

Brad Bauer
Brad BauerExecutive Director
As the Executive Director for the Sheridan Community Land Trust, Brad is lucky to work with a great team and Board of Directors. Sheridan Community Land Trust’s focus on recreation, conservation, and history all resonate with Brad. Originally from eastern Iowa, his entire professional career has been in conservation and natural resources in the West. Prior to joining Sheridan Community Land Trust, Brad worked for Montana State University Extension and with The Nature Conservancy in Montana. Brad enjoys being outside and can often be found building, gardening, or locating new places to hike and explore.
John Graves
John GravesDirector of Conservation and Resource Management
John believes every landowner is personally connected to their land and wants to see it thrive. He enjoys helping landowners achieve their vision and protect their land to remain productive while protecting the wide-open spaces, abundant wildlife, and clean creeks and rivers from which we all benefit. Before joining SCLT, John managed a horse ranch and was a production manager at Weatherby. John, his wife, and their dog own and operate a bison ranch in Sheridan County. They are active in the National Bison Association and the National Western Stock Show, and John has served as the President of the Rocky Mountain Bison Association since 2013.
Jared Koenig
Jared KoenigDirector of Recreation
Jared first encountered SCLT while attending a volunteer work day at Red Grade Trails. He had recently gotten into mountain biking and was excited to find a community organization that matched his passion for people-powered outdoor recreation. He later worked as a season trail technician and continued to volunteer. In May 2023, he joined full-time as SCLT’s first-ever, year-round Recreation Program Manager. He is excited to help people find their passion for exploring our beautiful Bighorns backyard.
Kevin Knapp
Kevin KnappHistory Program Manager
Kevin comes to SCLT with a professional and personal passion for history. He has a B.S. in cultural anthropology, a minor in video production, and a certificate in Native American Studies. He has worked for Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library’s Wyoming Room, as a field technician on many archaeological surveys, directed the Bozeman Trail Museum, and authored history features for many publications. Kevin was born and raised in Big Horn, and enjoys spending time with his two children and extended family as well as exploring our beautiful Bighorns backyard.
Beth Lawrence
Beth LawrenceOperations Manager
Beth joins SCLT after tenures in the legal field and with Sen. Dave Kinskey. She deeply values connecting to places and people. Growing up a “military nomad,” she is proud to call Sheridan County her “first chosen community.” Beth enjoys connecting with the outdoors by snowshoeing trails with her rescue dog, Clover. She also enjoys cooking, hiking, practicing yoga, and spending time with her friends and family.
Glenn Fairbank
Glenn FairbankTrail Technician
Glenn keeps our trails clean and tidy. Glenn leads the charge on mowing to building fences. Glenn is the happy face on the trail. When not keeping the trails in tip-top shape, he’s exploring our Bighorns with his wife, family and friends. Make sure you stop to tell him “hello.”
Bruce Scigliano
Bruce SciglianoEducation and Public Engagement Assistant
A retired Game Warden and former Outdoor Recreation Pathfinder, Bruce supports SCLT’s public engagement efforts, helps bring the new Welcome Center to life, and shares stories that connect people to the land, history, and community of our Bighorns backyard.
Kaitlin Shaw
Kaitlin ShawHistory and Outreach Assistant
Kaitlin grew up exploring SCLT trails and now serves as History and Outreach Assistant. She is passionate about local history, especially homesteading and oral histories. Kaitlin has developed a talent for engaging youth and is excited to connect the community to place to “pay it forward” for the next trail kids.
Chris Vrba
Chris VrbaMarketing and Development Contractor
Chris leads communications, storytelling, and donor engagement. With a background in fisheries science and journalism, he shapes SCLT’s public voice and supports fundraising efforts by connecting people to conservation, working lands, trails, and history through clear, authentic, place-based storytelling.
