The Sheridan Community Land Trust is excited to welcome Rocio Gosende-Washburn to the team as its operations manager.
Rocio (pronounced ro-SEE-oh) comes to SCLT from a diverse background in more ways than one. Originally from Queens, N.Y., with a history of music performance, studying at the ‘Frank Sinatra School of the Arts’ in high school. She holds a master’s degree in Recreation, which led her out West with the National Outdoor Leadership School in Lander, WY. She has led wilderness excursions around Lake Superior and oversees in Peru with other organizations and has experience as a higher education professional.
“It’s truly so special to live in a place surrounded by mountains, rich history and natural beauty. I’m thrilled to be part of a team that constantly reminds us of that,” she said.
As the operations manager, Rocio strives to be a resource for the community and is passionate about accessibility to wild areas and education about matters of conservation and local history.
“I live for beauty in art and beauty in nature,” she related.
You can find Rocio performing as a jazz vocalist in the local area or hiking/climbing some of her favorite spots (Piney Creek, Tongue River Canyon) with her husband Taylor and their dog Clif.
