Join Sheridan Community Land Trust & Sheridan College Native American Student Organization for this special Discovery Session, held April 27, 2022.
Dr. Shane Doyle, Apsáalooke from Crow Agency, MT, will provide insight into the ancient cultural history of the Northern Plains and Intermountain West. Synthesizing the archaeological data, genetic evidence, and contemporary cultural sensibilities, Dr. Doyle describes how Native people thrived for hundreds of generations in the rich, but climatically extreme landscape of the Bighorn Mountain region. He is an educator, archaeological and genetic researcher, curriculum designer, environmental advocate, performance art producer, and Plains Indian style singer. He is helping lead the commemoration of Yellowstone’s 150th birthday with the installation of an Intertribal Teepee Village near Gardiner in August of 2022.
With SCLT you conserve our working lands and open spaces, preserve our vibrant history, and make it easier than ever before to go from your front door to the outdoors in Sheridan County!
