SCLT Begins Leadership Transition: Summer departure anticipated for outgoing Executive Director
The Board of the Sheridan Community Land Trust (SCLT) is entering a formal search process to transition executive leadership of the organization. SCLT Executive Director, Colin Betzler, plans to step away from full time duties this summer while working closely with the Board and incoming Executive Director for a seamless transition. Mark Kinner, SCLT Emeritus Board Member and the former Board President who hired Betzler stated, “SCLT has developed an incredible team during its first decade and while we will certainly miss Colin’s leadership and vision, we are well-positioned and energized to continue our work that benefits the community.”
In June, Betzler will have served as SCLT’s Executive Director for 8 years. Over the coming months he will transition out of the position to pursue other life goals and aspirations. In addition to thanking the board for their “trust, confidence, and generosity” through the years, Betzler reflected on moving on, saying, “Our family has wrestled with this decision for more than a year and while it is bittersweet to step away from all of the amazing SCLT people and projects, we are looking forward to remaining in Sheridan and staying active in the community – SCLT very much included.”
Current Board President, Mike Evers acknowledged Betzler’s commitment and dedication saying, “The success of SCLT is due in large part to Colin’s vision and dedication to SCLT’s cause. We’ll miss him. Fortunately, due to the support of our staff, volunteers, donors and project partners, we’re well positioned to attract a talented person to fill the opening and continue our mission of connecting people with the places they love.”
